0.55ct bi-color Paraíba tourmaline
Paraíba tourmaline is extremely rare; bi-color examples are even more so. I'm willing to bet most of us have not seen one or even knows such a thing exists. This tapered baguette cut gem weighs 0.55ct and measures ~6.3x4.8x3.3mm. It's Brazilian and I assume untreated since heat would probably make the color more homogeneous and clarity enhancement would hide the internal features. It's not eye clean but faces up nicely and the cut is shallow but with a rare material like this, they wanted to maximize the weight. The colors are a medium toned violet-blue and very slightly greenish blue with nice saturation. I dunno if I'd set it, but it would easily be a welcome addition to any collection.
